Civil society organisations in Africa have managed to show solidarity with victims of rights abuses in Zimbabwe on Sunday, 25 May 2008. 
According to organisers thousands of people will march in many streets and squares of African cities and villages and of the planet Earth too.
The event “Stand Up For Zimbabwe” has been organised by many African civil society organisations. Among them the Southern Africa Litigation Centre, East Africa Law Society, Treatment Action Campaign, the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition and the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
All of them stress the long political crisis in Zimbabwe and asks to people across the globe to press the Southern African Development Community, the African Union and the United Nations to stop violences and resolve the crisis.
The event happen on the same day as Africa day. Every year, the 25th of May recall the founding in 1963 of the Organisation of African Unity, now the African Union.
