Monday May 23

  • Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh starts four-day trip to Ethiopia and Tanzania that is likely to produce trade deals and comparisons to Chinese engagement with the continent.

Tuesday May 24

  • Nigeria interest rate decision. The central bank raised its benchmark interest rate to 7.5 percent in March a bid to ward off the effect of rising government spending ahead of April elections
  • South Africa 2010-11 summer crop production forecast, an important indicator of the size of the maize harvest (1330 GMT)

Thursday May 26

  • South Africa Producer Price Index for April. PPI accelerated to 7.3 percent in March (0930 GMT)
  • Zambia inflation data for May. Headline consumer inflation slowed to 8.8 percent year-on-year in April (1030 GMT)
  • Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines AGM. The annual meeting comes as the government is forcing mining companies to sell majority stakes to local blacks.
