Media is invited to attend celebrations to mark Africa Day by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Pretoria, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016
This years’theme is “Celebrating Africa” – a valiant celebration of Africa, its history and prosperous future. We will showcase talent from various African dance troupes, poets, musicians and as well as statements from inspirational speakers.

His Excellency Mr Mahamoud Adam Bechir, Ambassador of the Republic of Chad
Mr Mamadou Diallo, First Secretary of the Republic of Senegal
Zolani Mkhiva South African poet, praise singer and social activist
Background:
The Africa Day or Africa Freedom Day, marked annually on the 25th of May offers the continent the opportunity to reflect on its history, liberation struggle, economic and social development and a celebration of its rich and diverse culture. We will also unpack the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are key to Africa’s growth and stability.
