GENEVA, Switzerland, March 4, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The UN Human Rights Committee, which monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) by states, is meeting in Geneva from 10 to 28 March. The Committee will review these countries on the following dates:
Kyrgyzstan (10-11 Mar); Sierra Leone (11-12 Mar); Latvia (12-13 Mar);
USA (13-14 Mar); Chad (17-18 Mar); Nepal (18-19 Mar)
The above are among the 167 States Parties to the ICCPR, which is one of the main international human rights treaties. They are required to submit regular reports to the Committee of 18 international independent experts. The Committee will also hear from NGOs and national human rights institutions.
Time: 10:00 -13:00 and 15:00 -18:00
Venue: Palais Wilson, Geneva, except 13 March from 15:00 and all day on 14 March when the Committee will be meeting in Room XVIII, Palais des Nations, Geneva.

A news conference is scheduled for Thursday 27 March at 13.30 at Palais des Nations, when the Committee will discuss its concluding observations.
