UK Foreign Office Minister condemns Somalia attack

LONDON, United-Kingdom, May 25, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Foreign Office Minister Mark Simmonds has sent his condolences to those affected by today’s attack at the Federal Parliament in Mogadishu.

At least ten people are now believed to have died after an attack by Al-Shabab militants on the parliament building early this morning in Somalia’s capital city. Mr Simmonds said:

“I condemn today’s attack against the Federal Parliament of Somalia in the strongest terms. Such appalling attacks have no justification. I commend the swift response of the Somali National Security Forces and AMISOM, and send my sincere condolences to all those affected by today’s attack. We will continue to assist the Federal Parliament to increase security and prosperity in Somalia, and we have reiterated to the Prime Minister our enduring support to Somalia.”
