T?KA's Health Project in the West African Country of Guinea-Bissau Was Delivered

The delivery ceremony for the incubators provided by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) to the newborn intensive care unit in the Pediatric Department at Simao Mendes National Hospital was attended by Quiletche Na Isna, Deputy Minister of Health of Guinea-Bissau, and Bülent Korkmaz, Head of the Department of the Middle East and Africa at TİKA.

A total of 5 fully-equipped incubators were provided to the hospital as part of the project. With the new cleaning measures and renovated ventilation system, the newborn intensive care unit will serve under better conditions.

In his speech at the delivery ceremony, Bülent Korkmaz, Head of the Department of the Middle East and Africa at TİKA, stated that they visited Bissau to strengthen the friendly ties between the people of Guinea-Bissau and Türkiye and to discuss various development projects. Stressing that they implemented this project for maternal and child health as a gift for the people of Guinea-Bissau, Korkmaz said, “We had the chance to see the activities we can carry out and the industries we will prioritize in this country.”

After the delivery ceremony; bags, stationery items, and hygiene sets were distributed to the children in need who were treated at the hospital.

Agriculture sector and service industry have a major place in the economy of Guinea-Bissau, which ranks 175th among 189 countries in the UN’s Human Development Index. Since 2017, TİKA has been carrying out various projects and activities in the industries of health, education, agriculture, and administrative infrastructure in the country.
