President Wavel Ramkalawan was officially presented with a copy of the Central Bank of Seychelles Annual Report 2022. This took place, during a courtesy call by the Governor of the Central Bank, Ms. Caroline Abel at State House this morning.

The submitted documents also included the CBS’s financial statements for the year ended 31st December 2022 and the 2022 International Reserves Management Report which is based on the outcome of an independent assessment by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (South Africa) on behalf of the Auditor General, as per section 19 of the Auditor General Act, 2010, read with Section 47(3) of the CBS Act, 2004.

President Ramkalawan expressed appreciation to the Governor for the report and commended her as well as the staff of the Central Bank of Seychelles for their remarkable work they are doing.

“I would like to reiterate our gratitude on behalf of the country for the excellent work the CBS Team has been doing under your leadership as Governor, we rely on your expert advice and so far you have been steering the country’s economic decision in the right direction,” said President Ramkalawan.

The meeting was also an opportunity for Governor Abel to brief the President on the current affairs and anticipated challenges that may globally have an impact on Seychelles in the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Governor Abel said that this time the report also entails the Access to Information report, which CBS is submitting in compliance with the Access to Information Act.

She said that based on the actual events taking place internationally, CBS is more or less keeping an easing monetary policy environment. The prognosis for this year is that the economy will increase but that it will slow down due to economic growth internationally. She noted that there may be inflation but it will be lower than the year before.
