NEW YORK, October 2, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:
The Secretary-General was saddened to hear that a police adviser from Sierra Leone, injured in the attack against UNAMID [African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur] peacekeepers on 13 July, in which seven Tanzanian peacekeepers were killed and 17 others injured, succumbed to his injuries on 30 September in a Khartoum Hospital.
The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late police adviser and reiterates his expectation that the Government of Sudan will take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
