The Uganda Lady Cranes 7s team won the Reach A Hand Uganda 2018 The Young Achievers Awards Outstanding Sports Personality category. It was a glamorous and merrymaking evening as hundreds gathered at the Kampala Serena Hotel to witness the rewarding of people who have done special things in different fields, including Arts, Entrepreneurship, Media and Journalism, Philanthropy, Innovation and Sports.

This was another edition of The Young Achievers Awards, a project that was rolled out in 2009 by two entrepreneurs Awel Uwihanganye, and Ivan Serwano Kyambadde to “recognize and celebrate outstanding youth in the Ugandan Community that have excelled in” some of the aforementioned sectors and whose works are contributing to the change of society or are hoped to.

45 people had been nominated in nine categories. In each category, only one person got the gong. The Lady Cranes, and other winners in various categories, received their award during an awards ceremony graced by the Prime Minister of Uganda, the Right Honourable Ruhana Rukunda and the Deputy President of Kenya, His Excellency William Samoei Ruto (https://goo.gl/hPMGTA).

Thank you Reach A Hand and Young Achievers Awards for recognizing the efforts of these gallant ladies to fly the Ugandan flag high and to inspire other girls country wide to break barriers, challenge convention and to battle hard to achieve their dreams.

Congratulations Lady Cranes! We hope that this is the first award of many to come.
