Republic of Angola Becomes 175th Party to the Biological Weapons Convention

On July 26, the Republic of Angola deposited its instrument of accession to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC). The United States congratulates the Republic of Angola on taking this step, which advances the goal of universality of this important Convention.

With this action, the Republic of Angola has become the 175th State Party to this pillar of the global regime against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It will allow Angola to participate this November as a State Party in the BWC’s five-year Review Conference, where the United States will work with other Parties to reach consensus on ways to strengthen this Convention.
