Eng. Bernard Amuor Makeny, Managing Director for South Sudanese National Oil Company (NOC) the Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet), will participate as a speaker during the Dubai leg of the African Energy Chamber’s (AEC) (www.EnergyChamber.org) Invest in African Energy roadshow, offering investors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the chance to participate in South Sudan’s expanding oil and gas industry.
Taking place on 30 March at the Ritz-Carlton in Dubai’s International Financial Center, this edition of the roadshow is poised to unlock a new era of economic ties between Africa and the Middle East, facilitating a litany of networking opportunities and investment meetings while providing African executives the opportunity to connect with some of the world’s most advanced international financial markets.
“Nilepet is a pioneer of the oil and gas industry in the whole East African region. Anyone that is interested in investing in the upstream, midstream and downstream are highly welcome,” stated Makeny in an interview with AEC partner and Africa’s premier investment platform for the energy sector, Energy Capital Power, adding, “There are a lot of opportunities for joint ventures with our subsidiaries. We need help from our international partners. We also need cooperation to expand externally and find new players to come in. Nilepet is willing to embrace any potential investment.”
Makeny’s participation during the Dubai leg of the Invest in African Energy roadshow will offer South Sudan’s NOC the opportunity to showcase the East African country’s wealth of talent in the oil and gas sector while connecting with global players and inviting new capital and technology to the South Sudanese market. The UAE’s experience as a major oil and gas producer will serve to strengthen UAE-Africa connections while enabling African stakeholders to tap into global financial markets and introducing South Sudan to new technology, new ideas and further investment, thus driving socioeconomic development, electrification, infrastructure development, and industrialization in the East African region on the back of strengthened bilateral ties.
“The AEC is happy to announce the participation of South Sudan’s NOC during the Dubai Leg of the Invest in African Energy Roadshow,” states Executive Chairman of the AEC, NJ Ayuk, who added, “South Sudan has positioned itself as the leading driver of energy development in the East African region, and leveraging the UAE’s experience as a major oil and gas producer will allow it to unlock the full potential of investment and bilateral trade opportunities between Middle Eastern and African energy players. The Invest in African Energy event serves to facilitate new deals between global players and African markets, and with Eng. Makeny’s participation, we look forward to a wave of agreements between South Sudan and its Middle Eastern counterparts.”
The Dubai Invest in African Energy roadshow will offer UAE players the chance to connect with a suite of high-level African stakeholders, serving as the premier platform to facilitate discussions, make deals and kickstart investment opportunities that will serve to advance both the UAE and Africa’s energy objectives. Serving as a form of prelude to the continent’s premier event for the oil and gas sector, African Energy Week (AEW) –in which South Sudan continues to play a central role in driving dialogue and signing deals – the Invest in African Energy Dubai edition will kickstart conversations that will be unpacked further during AEW 2023.
