Mediterranean Games: Frattini meets ambassadors

Italian foreign Minister, Franco Frattini, is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday 5 May 2009 at 10:30, in Rome’s Villa Madama, with the ambassadors of the 22 countries participating in the Mediterranean Games.

He will give the official invitation signed by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

The event will take place in Pescara from 26 June to 5 July.

“Speakers at the ceremony are to include President of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), Gianni Petrucci, President of the Abruzzo Region, Giovanni Chiodi, President of the International Mediterranean Games Committee Amar Addadi and Captain of the L’Aquila rugby team”, as written in a press release by the Italian foreign office.

Also present will be Under-Secretary of Berlusconi’s government with specialisation in ‘sports’, Rocco Crimi, Government Commissioner for the 16th Mediterranean Games, Mario Pescante, the local authorities of Pescara, Chieti and L’Aquila, the highest-ranking CONI authorities, sports federation representatives and well-known winning athletes associated with the Games.
