The Senate of Italy, the upper house of the Italian parliament, has approved yesterday the peace treaty with Libya signed by Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, and Libyan dictator, Muhammar Gaddafi, last year on the 30 of August.
A press release by the Italian foreign ministry specify that the agreement ends all contentious matters between Libya and Italy since the end of Italian colonial rule.
The Treaty is divided by three main chapters:
- general principles (art.1-7)
- how to solve contentious matters still valid (art. 8-13)
- regulations of the new bilateral partnership (art. 14-23)
