WHO:
Ambassador Tom Amolo, Political & Diplomatic Secretary, Ministry of International Affairs and International Work
WHAT:
Launch of the Humanitarian Private Sector Partnership Platform (HPPP) EA
WHEN:
8 March 2016 9am – 5pm
WHERE:
Sarova Panafric, Nairobi http://bit.ly/1UxYMZL
WHY:
Private sector has increasingly been recognized as a major stakeholder in multiple aspects of humanitarian action. Simultaneously, there has been a move towards market-linked forms of humanitarian assistance which work with local enterprises. However to date cross sector partnerships have been ad-hoc at best with engagement focused on single responses or one off-donations.
Over the past 18 months a group of committed organizations drawn from the private sector, International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGO) and United Nations (UN) agencies have been working to establish this platform and it has finally come to fruition. This platform will enable systematic long-term partnerships in light of the changing contexts humanitarian actors are faced in East Africa as part of World Humanitarian Summit process.
The HPPP, the first of its kind in East Africa will improve information sharing, communication and coordination via an online information management system. This will eventually help identify gaps and catalyze cross-sector partnerships. The portal will uniquely facilitate networking, collaboration and opportunities to address humanitarian needs through innovation and shared-value creation.
Your presence is highly valued as media is a key partner in humanitarian and development work.
Distributed by APO (African Press Organization) on behalf of Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
