The Government is funding construction of a new Hospital Complex to a tune of Ksh 183 million at the Kigumo Sub-County Hospital in Murang’a County. Upon completion the facility will be upgraded to a full-fledged level4 hospital that will offer male and female inpatient services paediatric services, general surgery, radiology and pharmaceutical services among others.
Speaking when she visited the facility to assess the progress, Principal Secretary (PS), Ministry of Health State Department for Public Health and Professional Services Dr. Josephine Mburu reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensure quality and accessible healthcare services to all Kenyans. “The upgrade of Kigumo Sub County Hospital will not only realize delivery of quality health healthcare services at people’s doorsteps but also decongest other referral hospitals in this county such as Murang’a county hospital, Maragwa sub county hospital among other neighbourhood medical services.” The PS said.
She said that the project is meant to address the healthcare needs of Murang’a County community in curative, preventive and rehabilitative services and also bridge the gap in distribution of health care services in the county considering the large population.
She acknowledged the great progress made so far and called on all players involved to work in synergy to ensure timely completion of the project.
