Italian Mp Margherita Boniver is travelling to Nairobi to meet Italians and understanding the issues involving Italians in Kenya. The news appeared on Italian foreign ministry website, www. esteri.it
“The Honourable Margherita Boniver – is written on a press release by www.esteri.it – will travel today to Nairobi as Minister Frattini’s personal envoy for issues regarding the numerous Italian nationals in Kenya, a major tourist destination and location of the offices of a series of civil society organisations, with a view to creating synergies with the Kenyan authorities on the adoption of initiatives aimed at continuing to ensure adequate protection and assistance to Italian nationals”.
“These measures – is also stated in the same press release – will especially concern residents, missionaries, tourists, business persons, and the officials and employees of development cooperation and humanitarian organisations”.
“In meetings with both her Kenyan and Somali interlocutors—members of the transitional government in Nairobi— Boniver intends to raise the question of the two Italian nuns abducted in November 2008 at El Wak, near the Somalia border, reiterating the Italian government’s earnest and firm expectation that a timely and positive solution will be found”.
