A powerful new collaboration between critically acclaimed British-Nigerian playwright Mojisola Adebayo and Standard Bank award-winning South African dancer and choreographer, Mamela Nyamza; recently named by Oprah Magazine as one of the top 25 women in the world, alongside Aung San Suu Kyi and Lady Gaga.
“I Stand Corrected” is a story of rage and romance, an eerie murder mystery where two black African lesbian lovers try to touch each other across the supernatural divide.
Told through haunting and sometimes absurdly comic physical theatre, seductive singing, dance, music and fire, I Stand Corrected is a passionate artistic response to the violent epidemic of ‘corrective’ hate rape in South Africa and the virulent anti-gay marriage lobby in Britain.
