Durban rolls-out red carpet for COP17/CMP7 delegates
PRETORIA, South-Africa, November 23, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Government and the people of KwaZulu-Natal will have a parade as part of the activities to welcome delegates to the conference in the city of Durban before the commencement of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17/CMP7) to be held in Durban from 29 November to 09 December 2011.
The welcome parade is billed as the biggest event to take place in the city of Durban and it will be utilized as a platform to showcase the city and the country’s state of readiness to host one of the historic conferences.
Government leaders will join thousands of local residents and personalities for the welcome extravaganza which will be in the form of a street march, commencing from Julius Nyerere (Warwick), through Pixley Ka Isaka Seme (West Street), ending with formal proceedings in the city hall. A carnival of climate friendly innovations will form part of the green street walk parade.
