UNAMID supports polio campaign in North Darfur
A polio vaccination campaign conducted by World Health Organization (WHO), with the support of UNAMID, started today and will continue until 24 November in North Darfur, targeting 460,551 children under the age of 5 years. The polio campaign is important as neighbouring Chad has reported recently an outbreak of 119 polio cases.
UNAMID supported the campaign by transporting personnel and cargo to the remote areas of Tine and Um Barru near Chad, as well as 300 kg of vaccines and vitamins.
UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military conducted 151 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 53 villages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. UNAMID Police advisors conducted 108 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
