Coronavirus – Eritrea: Announcement from the Ministry of Health (02 February 2022)

Twenty-three patients have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in tests carried out yesterday at Testing Stations in the Central, Anseba, Southern and Gash Barka Regions.

Out of these, twelve patients are from Testing Stations in Asmara, Central Region. Five patients are from Testing Stations in Habero (4), and Adi-Tekelezan (1); Anseba Region. Five patients are from Testing Stations in Senafe (3), Mendefera (1), and Adi-Keih (1); Southern Region. The last patient is from Testing Station in Barentu, Gash Barka Region.

On the other hand, forty-nine patients who have been receiving medical treatment in hospitals in the Central (26), Southern (21), and Gash Barka (2) Regions have recovered fully and have been discharged from these facilities. Sadly, 78 years old patient in the Southern Region has passes away due to the pandemic.

The total number of recovered patients has accordingly increased to 9,265 while the number of deaths has risen to 99.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country to date has increased to 9,559.
