U.S. Embassy in Togo

As part of its strategy to promote scientific studies (STEM), the Public Affairs Section and EducationUSA Lomé organized a conference on Food Security and Biotechnology moderated by Dr. Lambert Pungu Okito, Director of International Affairs of Southern Utah University (SUU) during his visit to Togo from March 12 to 17. Other key speakers include two university professors and researchers. For more than two hours, the 55 participants from various laboratories and universities learned how to apply scientific studies to solve social problems, particularly in nutrition and the prevention of diseases caused by Aflatoxin in Africa. This inspiring presentation highlighted the role of science in our daily lives. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of English in science studies and on the fact that the United States is one of the best destinations to study science.

In addition, Dr. Pungu has also made presentations on studying in the United States and SUU to more than 200 students and their parents at various schools including, Lycée Scientifique de Lome, BSL, Sigma Scientific College, and Université of Lome.
