WHAT: Commemoration of the International Day for Tolerance

WHERE: African Union Commission Headquarters, Addis Abeba, Ethiopia

 

WHO: The Department of the Political Affairs in collaboration with UN Office of High

Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations

Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

 

OBJECTIVE:

 

The Commemoration of the International Day for Tolerance is aimed at creating a time for people to learn about respecting and recognizing the rights and beliefs of others. It is also a time of reflection and debate on the negative effects of intolerance.

 

Participants:

 

Participants will include: Officials from AU Member States, the AU Commission, AU Organs, International Organisations, Diplomatic Corps, and others.

 

All media representatives are invited to participate and cover the commemoration event.
