After the reactions of the anti-globalization and former Malian Minister of Culture Aminata Dramane Traoré, that of the sociologist, Dr. Aoua LY-TALL and that of the newspaper journalist Die Maty Fall, in the form of positions for Nafissatou – all these positions have been relayed in the Senegalese and pan-African press – an African Committee of Support for Mrs. Diallo Nafissatou (CAS Nafi) has been established in Dakar.
Through this initiative, the African intellectuals are anxious to voice their opinions and respond to the case of “the African maid” which bears rape and sexual assault against one of the most powerful men in the world.
The “Case Nafi / DSK” is per excellence the ideal place for all social inequalities (a great intellectual against an illiterate, a powerful man against a humble woman, a wealthy French family against a poor African family, a White against a Black, international employee against an immigrant). There has been a slippage of language like “domestic skirt chaser” that trivializes sexual assault and violence against women around the world.
Meanwhile stereotypes as “housekeeper”, “woman of …” etc… are used and abused without restraint.
Beside the words “domestic” and CEO, Nafissatou is above all and after all a woman.
It is for this reason that we African women are supporting her and offer her voice to the voiceless woman and sister Nafissatou DIALLO. African brothers have joined us to create an international committee of African from the African continent and its Diaspora in America in Europe and around the world (refer to the countries of signatories).
We appeal to anyone who is convinced of social justice and equity between women and men, between North and South, to join us to support Nafissatou.
The “African Committee of Support to Nafissatou Diallo” (CAS Nafi) and the “2015 African Women’s Network” invites you to sign in and sign this petition to support “Nafissatou Diallo, a voiceless woman against a rich, powerful and famous couple “.
