Transcript of the Video Message:
Today, I’m delighted to announce that APO Group’s revenue for Q1 2022 increased by 70% compared to Q1 2021.
Of course, as the Founder and 100% owner of APO Group, this is the kind of result that makes me extremely proud.
Firstly, I want to thank our clients. Some have been with us for more than 10 years, and it is always rewarding when those loyal customers renew their contracts – as every single one of them has this year.
I’d also like to thank all the new clients we welcomed over the last few months, and look forward to building lasting relationships with them too.
But the biggest thanks has to go to our wonderful team at APO Group.
Growth on this scale doesn’t just happen. It requires passion for the cause. It requires everybody to be 100% committed to our company and our clients.
But what is most extraordinary is that our success has not been at the expense of our people’s health or wellbeing. We have no absenteeism, sick leave or staff turnover. Our team is thriving. The dynamic is there, and our culture is very strong.
So, to celebrate our record quarter, I’m giving -every- member of the APO Group team ONE extra day off. It is fully deserved!
It is certainly an exciting time… Since January 2021, the number of staff in our Public Relations team has nearly doubled, allowing us to support more clients in all corners of the continent.
But what makes me proudest is the way our company has evolved over the years in ways I could never have imagined. When I founded APO Group 15 years ago, I had a very clear idea of who we were and what we stood for.
We were ‘The African Press Organization’. We distributed press releases. We helped customers engage with journalists. It was simple.
But that’s not who we are now.
We are so much more.
And it’s not something that has come from me. In fact, it has happened almost without me noticing.
Two things spring to mind. They are small, and might seem irrelevant. But to me, they are very important.
First, many years ago, I was on the phone with a journalist and I told him I was calling from the African Press Organization. ‘Who?’ he replied. ‘You know, the African Press Organization…’ After a while, the journalist reacted ‘Oh! You mean APO!…
I hadn’t realized it, but our identity had changed, slowly and organically. The African media landscape and our clients had started to refer to us as APO.
And now, a decade later, I have to remind everyone that APO is acronym, that stands for African Press Organization!
And something else has happened too. Something natural and understated, but still important to me. I started noticing that my colleagues were welcoming new starters to the ‘APO Family’. Now, those new starters are referring to the ‘APO Family’ on LinkedIn, in meetings or in emails.
I don’t know where it came from… but it makes me extremely happy to hear it. It shows that a great company culture comes from within. It is not something you can control or plan for.
So, on a personal note, I want to thank each and every member of our APO Family. You have created a dynamic organization that I am extremely proud to be part of.
This success belongs to you all.
