Missing Ramadan: Indonesian Communities and Students in Sudan Attend Iftar and Tarawih Prayers at the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum

The Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum on Friday 31 March 2023 again held an iftar activity for Indonesian people and students in Sudan, at Wisma Duta.

Ramadan activities and worship, which provide opportunities to gather and stay in touch, are the moments that Indonesian people and students in Khartoum have been waiting for and longing for.

Various elements of society attended the joint iftar event which was held for the second time by the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum, incl representatives of the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum, PPI, PPPI, and regional family organizations (paguyuban), as well as Indonesian professional workers.

The activity begins with breaking the fast with Indonesian citizens starting with enjoying takjil and traditional Indonesian snacks, green bean porridge, pukis cakes, penada and various fried foods, as well as other Indonesian specialties.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Sudan Sunarko in his remarks invited the Indonesian community and students to continue to fill the month of Ramadan by improving the quality of worship, as well as spurring the spirit of achievement for Indonesian students. “The month of Ramadan is a month full of enthusiasm for Muslims to make achievements, especially for students,” he continued.

The Indonesian Ambassador also shared information about developments and progress in the country, as well as improving Indonesia-Sudan relations in various fields, including the close relations between the people of the two nations.

On this occasion, serving as the Imam for the Maghrib Prayer were Ustadz Yusron Kamal, a Masters student at Al Quran Al Karim University and Islamic Sciences, and the Tarawih Imam Ustadz M. Nur Ridwan Sarifuddin, M. Ed, a graduate of the Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Language in Then.

Meanwhile, St. Agus Aulia El-Luthfi, B.A., MA, in his tausiyah invited the audience to always remember and involve Allah SWT in every movement of our activities, because no success can occur in this world except by the grace and permission of Allah SWT.

The activity ended with a Witr prayer and a joint prayer, then the students were escorted home using the bus provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum.
