The Garamba National Park headquarters were attacked yesterday by Ugandan rebels. The news was reported by Environment news service (ENS).
Park rangers and the Congolese armed forces defended themselves and the park from the attack. Nonetheless there were a number of casualties and material damages.
As stated by ENS, “eight people were killed, including two park ranges and two wives of wardens, and 13 people were injured, most by bullets. The attack uprooted 3500 local residents, according to the United Nations sources”.

Nagero is the village where the Park is in the North Eastern region of DR Congo.
