A security team from the United Nations carried out an assessment mission to Benghazi last week to further facilitate the organization’s humanitarian work and allow for increased support to Libyans most affected by the crisis in the country.
The aim of the visit was to enable more steady and frequent humanitarian assistance to the families in need inside the city. The UN regularly conducts reconnaissance missions to all regions of Libya to safeguard its staff and programmes while ensuring maximum support to the most vulnerable in the country. There are plans to carry out similar missions to the South and to Sirte in the very near future, conditions permitting.
