Egypt: Italian foreign ministry confirms liberation

The Italian foreign ministry, mr. Frattini, has confirmed the liberation of Italian hostages taken in Egypt last 19 of September with other tourists. The news has been published on the Italian foreign ministry website.

From Belgrade, where the ministry is for a mission, Frattini said that the liberation “is the result of an international partnership participated by the Italian intelligence and special armed forces”.

The ministry also said that the success of this operation has been possible because of “not yet identifiable actions made with Egyptian authorities”.

Frattini has also thanked the authorities of Germany, Egypt, Sudan and Libya “for the time the hostages had been in their territory”.
