AUC Chairperson Congratulates Germany for 2014 FIFA World Cup Victory

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, July 14, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, congratulates the German Chancellor H.E. Angela Merkel, the German Team and its People for their brilliant victory in the 2014 edition of FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“The German team’s spectacular performance is a reflection of success built on a solid foundation of great determination, refined skills set, team discipline and boundless tenacity” Dr. Dlamini Zuma applauded the German team.

She also congratulates Argentina, the 2ndof the 32 competing teams for putting up an equally brilliant performance until the very end. Dr. Dlamini Zuma also paid tribute to Brazil for successful hosting and for its team’s 4th position placing.

The AU Commission Chairperson commends the five African teams at this year’s tournament for representing the African continent, in particular the Algerian and Nigerian teams who progressed to the second phase of the tournament.

Dr Dlamini Zuma encourages AU Member States to reflect on the overall performance of African teams at the world tournament with the aim of striving to progress beyond the quarter finals, as the world prepares for Russia in 2018.
