Third meeting of Commission dealing with Darfur ceasefire, security arrangements

KHARTOUM, Sudan, February 20, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ — All media are invited to the opening session of the third meeting of the Joint Commission, set to take place on Tuesday, 25 February 2014, at 9:30 hours in the main conference room at UNDP Headquarters, located on Gama’a Street in Khartoum.

The Commission is set up to resolve disputes among parties, referred to it by the Ceasefire Commission, and for ensuring the effective implementation of the provisions of the Final Security Arrangements of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).

The Commission is composed of representatives of signatories to the DDPD, the State of Qatar, the League of Arab States and the European Union. Canada, China and Norway are observers on the Commission.

The meeting will be chaired by the African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative and Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur, Mohammed Ibn Chambas.
