BERLIN, Germany, December 11, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle issued the following statement today (11 December) commenting on recent events in Mali:
I am worried about the current development in Mali.
The arrest of Prime Minister Diarra and the Government’s resignation threaten the efforts to politically stabilize the country. One thing is clear – our offers of assistance were made on the condition that the work to restore constitutional order in Mali is performed in a convincing manner. This is also the only way to resolve the crisis in northern Mali.
Interim President Traoré and all political leaders in the country must now act responsibly so that Mali can find its way back to stability.
