Prior to the 2nd Conference, the 5th African maritime cross-sectoral Experts workshop will take place on the 3rd -4th December 2012 and the high level African Maritime cross- sectoral Senior Officials meeting will take place on the 5th of December 2012 at the same venue.

Why: To further discuss the 2050 Africa’s Integrated Maritime (AIM)
Strategy with all member states and to follow the procedures
for its final adoption in January 2013 during the 20th ordinary
session of the African Union.
Who: Organized by the African Union Commission
Background: The commission organized the 1st Conference of African Ministers in charge of Maritime related affairs on the 21st April 2012 at the Commission’s Headquarters back to back with the 4th Experts workshop on the 2050 AIM strategy.
Journalists are invited to cover the meetings from 3rd – 6th December 2012 at the AU Commission.
